This past Sunday I attended the Pride Parade on German St. in Shepherdstown.
Its first ever.
The rains had stopped. The sun was shining. Rainbows sprouted everywhere.
Crowds filled the sidewalks. The town clock struck six. A cheer went up.
And then they came.
No floats. No marching bands. No firetrucks.
Just people.
A horde of jubilant, spunky people diversely clad strolled, shuffled, skipped, danced, and twirled, basking in the joy of freedom, hope, and love.
Four brawny alpha males sporting black leather jackets riding “hogs” led the procession.
The kingdom of heaven on earth.
I’m proud of our town.
Amen!! Celebrate Love. Celebrate all Humanity!!
Yay !
Hooray for our team !
